Swearing fees

As practising solicitors we have power to swear legal documents. There is a statutory charge of €10 for each signature each time it is sworn by us in a declaration or affidavit.

Sometimes there are exhibits attached to a declaration or affidavit and the charge for these is €2 for each signature each time it is sworn.

The fee for confirming certified copies of any documents is €5 for each time a page is certified as a true copy.

What is the difference between Swearing and Witnessing

Broadly speaking and in simple basic terms, swearing is where a practising solicitor signs a statutory declaration or affidavit at the same time and in the presence of the person making the declaration or affidavit. It is a requirement of such documents.

Witnessing by a solicitor is where a person signs a document other than a declaration or affidavit and the solicitor signs that other document as witness.
